Passageways Launches Knowledge Management and Learning Management Applications
Passageways adds the Knowledge Management and the Learning Management applications to its list of optional modules that user companies can select to further customize their individual portal frameworks.
The Knowledge Management Application enables employees at various client sites to search the portal for frequently asked questions. This application also provides the ability for financial institutions to embed a search box in their public Web sites so customers and members visiting their sites can find information for themselves.
The Learning Management Application, dedicated to the needs of training managers, provides a Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) compliant system, a collection of standards and specifications for Web-based e-learning. This application enables training managers to create, track, deliver and monitor all training initiatives seamlessly through the portal. The application’s SCORM compliance gives the portal the ability to deliver training materials and feed from content providers such as ABA for compliance testing and other training initiatives.

Configure Tools Access
Did You Know…
Portal Framework version 3.3 allows Portal Administrators to “share” Tools with specified roles.
This feature gives you, as Portal Administrator, the ability to grant portal management permissions to a selected role. For example, you may prefer individuals in the role of Human Resources add new employees into the portal. This was slightly difficult to do in the past, but in version 3.3, it is a quick and easy task.
Please see instructions below using the example of Human Resources and adding users.
- Go to Tools and select Manage Portal Framework.
- Select Configure Tools Access.
- Select the role of Human Resources, for example, from the drop-down menu.
- Now either select the entire Manage Users tool; or
- Expand the Manage Users tool link and select only the New User tool.
After you have granted the tool permission, the individual(s) in the chosen role will have the Tools workgroup on their navigation tree, with access only to the segment you have shared.
Who Could Use Tools Access?
Typically, any advanced portal user who frequently calls Support could benefit from having access to areas of support, particularly the Support Resources Browse Log Files area.
Human Resources is predominantly responsible for managing employees. Giving someone in that role the ability to Add Users and Delete Users is suggestion.
It may be helpful for Marketing employees, in charge of branding, to have access to the portal User Interface located within Manage Portal Framework.
Note: When giving access to Tools, be careful when granting access to tools containing connection strings such as Manage Modules-Manage Module Properties or Manage Portal Framework-Configure Portal Framework. Tools having connection strings should only be accessed by those with experience managing the portal and/or network administration.
As always feel free to contact Passageways Support at support@passageways.com or 765-497-8815 if you require assistance locating and managing these files.
